The Purest Kind of Faith

Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him. Job 13:15 KJV

Job here shows the purest kind of faith. It is a faith in a God who seemingly is going to slay him. Our text shows us a child of God under the most severe persecution. A lost man in such a place would go on further in sin of rebellion. Job, however, shows us a pure faith that the world knows nothing of. The world would say of the Lord and his servant, why would you trust someone who slays you? First of all we must trust Him because He is the one who gave us life. You hath He quickened who were dead in trespasses and sins. The eternal spirit came to where I was and began a good work of conviction in my soul. This conviction led me to repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Secondly, we must realize it is God who sustains us all of the way on our journey. He not only gave me life, but life eternal. Some people cannot believe in the security of the saints. He that began a good work in you will perform it unto that day. This slaying also causes us to trust Him. I would rather the Lord slay me with the trials than to leave me alone in my sin. The Bible says if we are without chastisement, we are bastards and not sons. I would rather die with God slaying me than to live in the grip of Satan.

Amen.
